CVE, a rapidly growing California based specialty contractor, has their sights set on being one of the country’s largest abatement and demolition companies. As a growing business managing multiple entities, unions, and public works projects, CVE needed a solution to streamline their back-office operations and create a strong foundation for future growth.

The Challenge

As CVE’s workforce grew and their business became more complex, their manual processes and legacy systems reached a breaking point. After making the decision to move to a legacy payroll provider, Braydon Stout, the company’s COO, described how the legacy provider was not able to handle their company’s payroll requirements after a year of attempting to implement. “It’s an aha moment when you're humming along and you're like, 'gosh, we've really outgrown where we are.' So we went with ADP and that was a really challenging experience. Twelve months into implementation and we couldn’t onboard more than 50 employees.”

In CPR, we were going to have two people, but that's not necessary anymore. “Our union arm is about 25% of our work. Prevailing wage on the private side is about 60% of our work. So we have a lot of unique jobs. There's 30+ job numbers and 30+ jobs to be costed on one person's paycheck. The volume and detail of that is pretty intricate.”
